Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to receive rainfall in view of the possible cyclone over the Bay of Bengal.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal is likely to further intensify into a deep depression during the next 12 hours. It is likely to move northwestwards during the next 12 hours, then recurve and move north-northeastwards during subsequent 3 days towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts.
According to the forecast track and intensity of the system issued by the agency, a cyclonic storm is likely to form on October 24.
The Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecasted light to moderate rainfall for the following districts of Odisha in view of the probable cyclone.
Agriculture Advisory: In view of light to moderate rainfall activity over coastal districts of Odisha, ongoing harvesting of matured paddy crops (early to medium duration variety) and vegetables may be completed before 23rd October.
Fishermen Warning: Fishermen have been advised not to venture into westcentral Bay of Bengal till 25th October and along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal during 24th to 26th October. Fishermen already in sea have been advised to return to the coast.
Distant Cautionary Signal No. 1 has been hoisted at all ports of Odisha.
