Post Delhi debacle Odisha CM seeks public opinion on Mahanadi issue

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today shared the outcome of the tripartite meeting at Delhi on the Mahanadi dispute with representatives of eight political parties and different organizations.

“I had a meeting with various political parties, NGOs and individuals asking for their opinion on the Mahanadi river problem. They have given their points of view. The government will take that seriously,” said Chief Minister after the meeting.

“We told the Chief Minister that the state acted very late. Why couldn’t you do the same thing earlier? We suggested the Chief Minister to appeal to the Supreme Court for the constitution of a tribunal,” said Janardan Pati CPI (M) leader after the meeting with the Chief Minister.

Industries Minister Devi Prasad Mishra, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das, leaders of political parties- CPI (M), CPI, Samajwadi Party, RJD, Forward Block, CPI (ML), SUCI and representatives of various civil society groups attended the meeting among others.
