Post-mortem report on woman’s death in Satkosia revealed; Know here

Bhubaneswar: The post-mortem report of the woman killed at Hatibari village near Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary in Angul district revealed that the woman died due to an attack by a wild animal.

However, the report that was released today did not clarify whether it was the Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’ or any other animal that attacked the woman leading to her death on September 12.

“The injuries on the body of the deceased woman were antemortem in nature.  While some injuries were consistent with destruction by carnivorous animal, some could have been caused by constriction of neck by an agent having multiple pointed hard blunt projections. The death was due to asphyxia as a result of constriction of neck,” the report read.

Earlier, angry villagers had claimed that the woman was killed by the tigress and demanded for its relocation.

However, Forest and Environment Minister Bijayshree Routray later clarified that no decision to transfer the big cat has been taken and the truth behind the woman’s death could be ascertained only after the post-mortem.
