Rourkela: The post-mortem report of ASI Alisa Narmi Lugun, who died under mysterious circumstances while on duty during a group clash in Rourkela, revealed the cause of death of the woman police personnel.

The post-mortem report suggested that ASI Lugun died due to excited delirium, a symptom characterized by severe anxiety and increased hormone secretion from the adrenal gland for which breathlessness develops, said Rourkela police today.

Briefing the press, Rourkela SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra said, "The doctor clearly mentioned that there was no attack on the ASI leading her to death. Accordingly, we will carry out the investigation and make a final report soon."

He said that the murder case was registered based on the complaint by the deceased ASI's family. As the post-mortem report ruled out the murder allegation, the case will be investigated as per the legal process.

Alisa Narmi Lugun (30), an ASI of Udit Nagar Police Station in Rourkela, was on duty at the Ring Road area in Rourkela on October 1 to restore law and order in the wake of a group clash over a road mishap. She reportedly collapsed while trying to bring the situation under control. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

The family of the deceased ASI alleged that she was physically assaulted that resulted in the death.
