Cuttack: In an ongoing probe into the mysterious death of popular television actor Nikita, the post-mortem report has revealed the cause of her death.
The report says that Nikita died after falling from a height, informed Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh here today.
"We have received the post-mortem report in which the doctors opined that Nikita died of injuries after she fell from a height," he told media.
"There is no new thing mentioned in the report. Earlier, it was clear that she died after falling from the height. The same thing was propagated in the report," Singh said.
Meanwhile, a notice has been sent to Nikita's in-laws for appearance. However, they are yet to depose before the police.
"The police had visited Nikita's in-laws' house but did not find them there. We will try to find them out and interrogate them in the case. The legal action will be taken against them after interrogation," the DCP said.
On the other hand, Nikita's husband Lipan has been sent to the Choudwar Central jail after the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court in Cuttack rejected his bail application on Tuesday.
The Chauliaganj police had arrested him on Monday night on the charge of attacking and pushing her wife Nikita to death on Jan 4 evening.
Following the complaint lodged by Nikita’s father Sanatan Behera, a case was registered under Section 302, 498 (A), 306 and 34 of IPC.
Notably, Odia TV and film actress Lakshmipriya Behera alias Nikita died at a private hospital on Jan 5 while undergoing treatment for head injury.
According to reports, she had been staying at her father's house following some disturbance with her husband Lipan and in-laws. The couple has a four-month-old son.
On a fateful night on Jan 4, Nikita reportedly fell off the roof and sustained a serious head injury. She was admitted to the Aswini Hospital where she succumbed.
Her father alleged that Lipan pushed her from the roof following a heated argument between them.
