Chandbali/Berhampur: Bansda police today arrested at least five persons in connection with an alleged attack on Ganjam BJP district unit president Subash Sahoo that took place yesterday at Totapada under Chandbali block and Ghanteswar outpost limits in Bhadrak district.
The arrested were forwarded to a local court later in the day.
Worth mentioning, victim Sahoo and his close associates were on their way to a relative’s house of Sahoo in Bhadrak, when the duo was attacked by some BJD workers. Allegedly, a hand of the BJP leader sustained injuries in the incident and his car was vandalised.
Acting on an FIR lodged by Sahoo, Bansda police had registered a case (No-184/2024) under Sections 341, 294, 323, 324, 325, 307, 379, 427, 506 of the IPC and launched a probe into the attack.
Besides, hundreds of BJP workers had staged a sit-in in front of the outpost demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons. A team of cops led by Bansda IIC Debaraj Jena and Ghanteswar outpost in-charge Suryakanta Mohanty arrested the five accused within nearly 12 hours.
