Post-poll violence leaves four injured in Odisha’s Patkura

Patkura: Post-poll violence in Patkura of Odisha’s Kendrapara district left as many as four persons injured.

While two of the victims have been admitted to Patkura hospital, two others are undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Supporters of a political party attacked Dhanurdhar Mallick (40) of Tikanpur village under Patkura police limits yesterday when he was returning home with his wife after casting vote.

He sustained injuries on his head and hand in the attack. The attackers fled the spot on realising arrival of police. A written complaint has been lodged in this regard at the Patkura police station.

In a similar incident, 10-12 supporters of a political party launched murderous attack on Ganeswar Nayak (54), his son Bilas (27) and his brother-in-law Dushmant Patnaik (30) when the three were present at a poultry farm owned by Ganeswar at Bangari village in Talakusuma panchayat.

The trio sustained critical injuries after being attacked by the assailants with knives and iron rods. Police have detained the prime accused of the atack, identified as Kanha of Talakusuma village.
