Power tariff hiked in Odisha; discount for timely, digital payment

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) today hiked power tariff in the state by an average of 1.44 per cent.

The tariff has remained unchanged for the first 50 units for domestic consumers and agricultural activities.

Similarly, tariff under Biju Kutir Jyoti Yojana has been kept unchanged as well.

No change has been announced for electricity meter rent.

Tariff for retail consumers has been increased by 10 paise per unit.

The domestic consumers will have to pay Rs 2.50/unit for the first 50 units, Rs 3.40/unit from 50 to 200 units, Rs 3.85/unit for above 200 units, Rs 4.33/unit for above 300 units, Rs 4.58/unit for above 400 units, Rs 4.80/unit for above 500 units and Rs 4.95/unit for above 600 units.

They will get a discount of 5 paise per unit for timely payment of electricity bills and an additional discount of 1 per cent for online payment.

This apart, domestic consumers of rural areas will get discount of 5 paise per unit.
