Prabodh Tirkey quits Congress after denied ticket

Bhubaneswar: Prabodh Tirkey, former captain of the Indian hockey team and a Congress ticket aspirant from Talsara Assembly constituency, today left the party.

Prabodh tendered his resignation from primary membership of the party and sent the resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Sarat Pattanayak.

“I feel deprived from the unfortunate decision taken by the grand old Congress party of India,” Prabodh wrote in his letter to the OPCC president.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prabodh had joined the Indian National Congress (INC) in Odisha and formally debuted in politics on September 4, last year.

Prabodh was earlier given a ticket by the party from Talsara-ST Assembly constituency segment. However, he was again denied a ticket and Devendra Bhitaria was fielded in his place.
