Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is observed on the Trayodashi tithi of both Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha, for which the occasion falls twice during every Hindu calendar month.

Pradosh Vrat November 2021 Date: Dec 2 (Thursday).

Tithi Begins: 01 December, 2021 11:35 PM.

Tithi Ends: 02 December, 2021 08:26 PM.

Pradosha Puja Time: December 02, 05:36 PM - December 02, 08:16 PM.

Rituals:

There are two different methods of fasting on the Pradosh vrat day.

First Method: Devotes observe strict fast for 24 hours of the day. They also stay awake during the night.

Second Method: Fasting is observed from the sunrise till sunset. The fast is broken after worshipping Lord Shiva in the evening.

Prayers and pujas on the day are performed during twilight-- the time just before sunrise and sunset.

Devotees take bath and get ready for the puja, an hour before sunset.

Lord Shiva is worshipped and invoked in a sacred pot or 'Kalash', which is kept on duva grass.

Worshipping of Shiv Ling is also done in some places. The Shiv Ling is given a bath with sacred substances like milk, curd and ghee.

Bel leaves are also offered on the Shiv Ling.

After the rituals, devotees listen to Pradosh Vrat Katha.

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is chanted 108 times on this occasion.

After the puja is over, devotees apply the sacred ash on their forehead.

They also visit Shiv Temples after the puja.
