According to a source, the wedding ceremony was arranged at a prominent Mandap under the civic limits on the intervening night. Various types of cuisine delicacies were prepared and served to the Baraatis (members of the marriage party), including mutton. The feast was about to end when 6 to 7 additional members of the marriage party reached the Mandap and insisted on mutton. As the stock of mutton curry was exhausted, they started creating disturbances leading to the call-off, the source added.

“My elder paternal uncle, who is about 70 years of age, begged unconditional apology to the Baraatis. However, the unruly Baraatis remained rigid to their convictions and created disturbances. They were in an inebriated condition and misbehaved with my family members,” Sucharita expressed.

The man is a bank official from Sundargarh and had to go back empty-handed. The marriage could not be solemnised as Sucharita called off the wedding before the nuptial knot was to be tied.
