Prasad to continue as Odisha Congress president till 2019

Bhubaneswar: Congress leader Prasad Harichandan will continue as the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president till 2019 elections as the AICC president Rahul Gandhi did not approve his resignation, informed OPCC Discipline Committee chairperson Sandhya Rani Mohapatra here today.

The statement cleared the speculations about possible appointment of another face in the state unit of Congress as the party chief.

Prasad to remain in his post as the AICC president Rahul Gandhi is not in favour of changing the state party chief ahead of the 2019 general elections, Mohapatra said in a statement.

Prasad had tendered his resignation from his post as the OPCC president following party’s debacle in the recently concluded Bijepur assembly bypoll.
