Bhubaneswar: Ending a long wait after the resounding success of his movie ‘Pratikshya’, Odia film maker Anupam Patnaik has announced his upcoming new project 'Trikanya'. Taking to micro-blogging platform Twitter on Wednesday, Patnaik revealed that the plot of the movie would revolve around the lives of three women.

"The wait is over. We're excited to announce the title of our new movie - Trikanya! Three women, three stories, one unforgettable journey of courage and triumph. Coming Soon!," he tweeted.

Written by Manash Padhiary and produced and directed by Anupam Patnaik, the movie is women-centric with the star cast comprising Barsha Patnaik, Manoj Mishra, Nishant Majithia, Sradha Panigrahi, Partha Sarathi Ray among others.

"The plot revolves around stories of three "kanyas". Hence, the name "Trikanya". The movie is about love, lust and hardships faced by women. After the public response to Pratikshya, I am hopeful the audience will appreciate this movie as well. It is fresh and very different," Patnaik shared.

Pratikshya, which had hit theatres in December last year, had garnered an overwhelming response from the audience. Inspired from a short story by eminent writer Gourahari Das, it portrays daily struggles of a middle-class youth who’s caught up between what is required of him and what’s available on the table while highlighting the dynamics of a father-son relationship.

Following the movie's success, actor Anupam Kher had announced the Hindi remake of the movie, during a program of the International Film Festival of India where he shared the dais with the team of the Odia film.
