Pre-poll violence: Miscreants torch Congress camp office in Pipili

Pipili: In a fresh incident of pre-poll violence ahead of the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, miscreants allegedly set Congress camp office in Ward-7 of Pipili NAC in Puri district in wee hours today.

As per reports, supporters of rival party candidate for Pipili NAC Chairman post allegedly set the Congress camp office at around 3 am today. Congress Chairman candidate Gunanidhi Pradhan’s brother alleged supporters belonging to a particular political party made such attack fearing defeat in the elections.

“Unable to bear popularity of the Congress candidate and fearing defeat in the ULB polls, the miscreants resorted to such hooliganism,” said a supporter of the Congress candidate.

Elections to 106 ULBs ( 47 Municipalities and 59 NACs) and three Municipal Corporations would be held on March 24 while results will be declared on March 26. The last date of campaigning is March 22.
