Pregnant minor girl’s charred body found inside house in Odisha, murder alleged

Sundargarh: Charred body of a pregnant minor girl was found inside a house in Sabadega area under Talsara police station of Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

According to reports, the deceased was living in the house with a married man, identified as Srikant Pradhan of Tungaripada, for the last six months. Following the death of the girl, who was reportedly four months pregnant, Srikant absconded.

Police have recovered the body for post-mortem while efforts were on to trace the man. It is being suspected that the man killed the girl over a dispute between the two by setting her on fire.

On the other hand, police have registered a murder case on the basis of an FIR lodged by the girl’s father, who alleged that his daughter was killed. The complainant further alleged that Srikant had impregnated the girl.
