Premature newborn girl found inside hospital toilet in Puri

Puri: A newborn girl with an umbilical cord and plancenta attached was found inside a toilet of the District Headquarters Hospital here this morning.

The baby was rescued by the hospital staff in critical condition and admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the hospital for treatment.

A complaint in this regard was lodged at the Kumbharpada Police Station in Puri district for necessary action.

According to reports, the baby was premature and she was found inside a drainage pipe of the toilet. However, mother of the baby is yet to be identified.

The newborn premature baby was recovered from the OPD toilet premises at around 9.53 am by the hospital staff. She was shifted to the SNCU of the hospital for treatment, mentioned the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) Specialist in a complaint.
