Bhubaneswar: With the three-tier Panchayat polls set to begin in Odisha next year, State Election Commissioner (SEC) today informed that preparations for the elections are in final stages.
Briefing mediapersons, SEC Aditya Padhi said printing of ballot papers is underway at Government press. Besides, total 66 symbols to be used by candidates in the upcoming elections to the posts of Samiti member, Sarpanch and Ward member have been released.

Of the 66 symbols, 15 are meant for candidates in fray for Ward Member, 32 for Sarpanch and 19 for Samiti member.
Besides, 19 additional symbols have been released for candidates contesting for Independent Zilla Parishad member. Those nominated by different parties will contest for Zilla Parishad member. The symbols will be allotted to candidates in Odia alphabetical order, he informed.
This apart, special guidelines will later be issued for the elections keeping in view the COVID-19 situation in the state, the SEC added.
