Bhubaneswar: The Centre today said the Odisha government is required to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) and seek approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) for an international airport at Puri.

The Union Government has already granted site clearance to Odisha for setting up of an international greenfield airport at Puri, said the Union Civil Aviation Minister while replying to a query of BJD MP Sasmit Patra in the Rajya Sabha.

As per the Greenfield Airports Policy-2008, the responsibility of implementation of the airport project including funding, land acquisition and R&R lies with the Odisha government, added the minister.

“The state government is required to prepare a DPR including details like development plan, project cost & funding, traffic projections and timeline for completion of the project,” said the minister.

Prior to the commencement of the construction work, the state government will have to submit an application along with the DPR before the MoCA for grant of ‘in-principle’ approval, added the minister.
