Bhubaneswar: President Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Odisha in May this year.
The President will grace the 12th Convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district as the chief guest on May 9.
Sampada Mehta, Private Secretary to the President of India, wrote a letter in this regard to Santosh Kumar Tripathy, the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University yesterday.
Earlier, the university authorities had sent an invitation to the President to grace the 12th Convocation of the institution as chief guest and deliver the convocation address on a date convenient to the first citizen of the country.
“The President will be pleased to grace the 12th Convocation of Maharaja Sriram Bhanja Deo University at 1000-1100 hrs on May 9 at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha,” read the letter.
The Private Secretary to President has requested the university authorities to send the details plan of the programme and a sample invitation card to the Deputy Military Secretary to the President through the Chief Secretary of Odisha.
“A comprehensive note on the function along with a draft speech may be furnished to the Press Secretary to the President,” said the letter.
