President Kovind to visit Odisha’s Utkal University on December 8
Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind will attend a special programme on December 8 to mark the platinum jubilee celebration of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar. This was informed by Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo today while speaking at a varsity function.
Thousands of alumni of Utkal University including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today took part at the Platinum Jubilee celebration on the second day. He expressed his willingness to donate salary of one year if an alumni fund of the university was formed. Also, the Union Minister reminisced his students days at the university.
Pradhan further said the alumni should play a greater role in making the Utkal University a world-class varsity.
After inaugurating the five-day Platinum Jubilee celebration at the varsity yesterday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the State government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore for opening six centres of excellence.
