Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in Odisha on a four-day official tour starting July 6. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja reviewed the preparedness on her tour in a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan here today afternoon.
Special Secretary Home Santosh Bala presented an elaborate tour programme of the President.
The Chief Secretary discussed with senior officials on security arrangements of the President, her stay, healthcare, maintenance of law and order, sanitation, telecommunication including the provision of internet services and electricity during her official tour.
According to an official source, the President is scheduled to attend various events in Bhubaneswar and Puri, during her stay between July 6 and July 9. She is to grace the 96th death anniversary of Pandit Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das at Jaydev Bhawan in the State Capital on the evening of July 6.
On the next morning, President Murmu will visit Puri to witness the famous Rath Yatra of the sibling deities – Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra, and their sister Devi Subhadra.
The President will stay at night in the pilgrim town and will go for a walk on Puri beach on the morning of July 8. Thereafter, she will proceed to Bhubaneswar and will visit Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves in the forenoon. Later, she will have an interaction with the students of Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art & Crafts. She will also attend an event at Divine Retreat Centre in Mendhasal Haridamada locality on the outskirts of the Capital City.
President Murmu will attend the 13th Convocation of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Jatni in the afternoon and then she will leave for New Delhi.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Director General of Police Arun Kumar Sarangi, including several other senior officials of the Departments concerned took part in the review meeting.
