President’s medal for five Odisha jail officials

Bhubaneswar, Jan 25:

President’s Medal for the year 2015 will be bestowed on five jail officials from Odisha for their remarkable contribution to jail reforms, a Rashtrapati Bhawan communiqué said today.

While Rabindranath Barik, Assistant Jailor of Jagatsinghpur Sub Jail will receive the President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service, four other jail officials– Subhakanta Mishra, Jailor-cum-Superintendent, Titlagarh Sub Jail, Satyaprakash Swain, Jailor, Dhenkanal District Jail, Subash Chandra Pradhan, District Probation Officer, Dhenkanal and Surendra Kumar Barik, Assistant Jailor, Barbil Sub Jail will receive the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service, the notification said.

Notably, three prison personnel have been nominated for President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service and 23 jail officials have been selected for President’s Medal for Meritorious Service from across the country.

The awards would be presented during Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on Tuesday.
