Press Chhak bomb hurling case: Odisha court allows Mahima’s 3-day remand

The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here today allowed the Twin City Commissionerate police to take Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) Managing Director Mahimananda Mishra aka Mahima Mishra on a three-day remand for questioning in connection with the 2013 Press Chhak bomb hurling and attempt to murder case.

The Court in its order allowed the Twin City Commissionerate police to take Mishra on three-day remand beginning January 14 while asking the latter to produce him before it on January 17 after the end of the remand period.

The Twin City Commissionerate police had yesterday moved the court to take Mishra on a three-day remand.

Earlier on January 6, the Twin City Commissionerate police had moved the court seeking Mishra’s inclusion as an accused in the case.

A criminal Ganesh Sahu of CDA area in Cuttack who has been arrested in the case had revealed to the police during interrogation that the bomb was hurled under Mishra’s direction, police had said.

The OSL chief who has been arrested in connection with the murder of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited (SSPL) General Manager Mahendra Swain in Paradip is currently lodged at the Choudwar Circle Jail.

Mishra was earlier lodged at Samagol Jail in Jagatsinghpur district after his arrest and was shifted to Choudwar Jail yesterday and his bail plea was rejected by the SDJM Court here.
