Prez, PM, CM condole demise of Dhamnagar MLA Bishnu Sethi

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, ministers and political leaders cutting across party lines today condoled the demise of Dhamnagar MLA and BJP leader Bishnu Sethi.

Taking to Twitter, they expressed grief over the death of Sethi and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

Saddened by the demise of Shri Bishnu Charan Sethi, a prominent public figure in Odisha. A prolific writer, Shri Sethi was an eminent legislator. His demise leaves a void which is difficult to fill. My heartfelt condolences to his family, well-wishers and followers.

ସେ ସବୁବେଳେ ରାଜ୍ୟର ଲୋକଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ପାଇଁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରୁଥିଲେ। ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାର ବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ।

It’s a terrible news, makes me speechless.

Deeply saddened to know about the untimely demise of Dhamnagar MLA Shri Bishnu Sethi at the age of 61.

Apart from politics, he was a Writer, Poet and Social Worker. It’s a huge loss for the State.

Sethi passed away at AIIMS here today. He was 61.

Sethi was suffering from kidney-related ailments and undergoing treatment at the healthcare facility for the past two months. He breathed his last while being treated at the ICU of the hospital.

He had developed lungs infection and suffered brain haemorrhage, the hospital authorities said.

He was the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly and Vice President of BJP’s Odisha unit.

He was elected to the Assembly from Dhamnagar constituency in 2019 and Chandbali constituency in 2000.

Born in 1961 in Tihidi of Bhadrak district, Sethi was also a poet and writer.
