Prices of milk products to go up in Odisha’s Cuttack from May 1

Cuttack: Milk products including chhena, paneer and khua are to become costlier from May 1. The dairy products traders’ association in Cuttack decided today to hike the retail prices, a source said.

“Keeping in mind the continuous rise in the cost of milk, taking such a decision was inevitable on our part,” the Association general secretary Pradeep Behera stated.

Accordingly, chhena will cost Rs 20 more per kilogram; paneer will cost Rs 30 more per kilogram and khua Rs 60 more per kilogram. As per the new price, chhena will be sold at Rs 195 per kilogram; paneer will be sold at Rs 225 per kilogram and khua will be sold at Rs 320 per kilogram.

Echoing the same view, the Association president Subash Behera said, “The price of milk has gone up by Rs 4 per litre in the recent past. Similarly, cattle feed and other ancillary products now cost more than before, thereby leaving us in a fix. Hence, we are increasing the prices of milk products.”

It is pertinent to mention, OMFED increased its milk prices by Rs 4 per litre on April 1.

The retail price of Toned OMFED Milk per litre was increased from Rs 42 to Rs 46; Tea Special Milk per litre was increased from Rs 46 to Rs 50 and Gold and Premium Milk from Rs 48 to Rs 52.
