Prime accused held in Odisha Cong leader murder

Berhampur: Baidyanathpur police today arrested Bhagwan Sahu, the prime accused in the assassination of Congress poll candidate Manoj Jena.

According to sources, the police will appeal for a five-day remand for Sahu in the local court.

Earlier, Berhampur police had issued a lookout circular against the accused on June 5. Two notorious criminals Ganesh Nayak alias Bulu and Hrusikesh Patra, charged with the Aska MLA candidate’s killing were injured during police encounter on June 1.

Furthermore, five other accused had been arrested by the cops from Balugaon and Koraput railway stations previously. 12 persons had been apprehended earlier, including seven from Aska, three from Bhanjanagar and two from Bhubaneswar, for interrogation.
