Prime accused in attack on cops inside police station arrested  

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested main accused Prakash Tripathy in connection with the attack on police officials inside Saheed Nagar Police Station here earlier this month.

Tripathy, the State Vice-President of Biju Yuva Janata Dal, will be forwarded to court today. Meanwhile, BJD has expelled Tripathy from the post following his arrest.

Earlier on March 6, police had arrested two students of Utkal University for their involvement in the vandalism inside the police station and attack on cops.

On March 3 evening, as many as four police personnel including the IIC and an ASI of Saheed Nagar police station had sustained critical injuries after a group of hooligans attacked them when the cops tried to stop the latter from attacking three persons, who were detained at the police station in a road accident case.

The assailants also ransacked the police station by vandalizing furniture, CCTV cameras, TV set and flower pots.
