Bhubaneswar: Seems like jails are not safe for prisoners in Odisha as one inmate was seriously injured following a clash at the Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar.

The victim has been identified as Shambhunath Barik. He was admitted to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, three prisoners namely Chakara, Jaga and Papu attacked Shambhunath inside the jail last night over some dispute.

Though the exact reason behind the attack is unclear, it is suspected that the trio attacked Shambhunath over the illegal narcotics trade.

The Laxmisagar Police will register a case and initiate a probe into the incident.

A similar incident was reported from Khordha Jail two days ago where a prisoner sustained injuries in a clash among jail inmates. Seven inmates were booked at Khordha Town Police Station in this case.
