Prisoners at Jharpada jail now can watch movies every Sunday

Bhubaneswar:  In a first, prisoners lodged at Jharpada Jail here will get to watch movies on projector inaugurated inside a cell there yesterday.

Through the projector connected with a sound system, prisoners will watch patriotic, historic, mythological and moral-based films on every Sunday. Such facility for prisoners is first in the country, said Jail Superintendent DN Barik.

The move is intended to help prisoners free from mental stress. Besides, devotional songs will be played through the sound system every morning and evening, he added.

Besides, a washing has also been given to prisoners to wash their clothes. A water purifier with hot water facility has also been installed to provide drinking water to the inmates. A 24*7 kiosk with internet facility has been made available to help the poisoners check their case status, the Jail Superintendent added.
