Probe panel invites opinion from people over SUM Hosp tragedy in Odisha

Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central range, A B Ota commissioned by the Odisha government to conduct an inquiry into the SUM Hospital fire tragedy has sought opinion from the general public on the accident through affidavits.

General public directly or indirectly connected with the incident if they so desire can submit their opinion through affidavits between October 25 and November 3, informed Ota to the media.

“I have been assigned by the government to conduct an inquiry. The inquiry should cover all aspects. We have planned to include all as parties those who are directly or indirectly connected with the incident. General public if they so desire can give their opinion. Individuals who are eyewitnesses or people indirectly connected with the incident (patients, relative of patients, volunteers of civil society organizations, officials who were engaged in the rescue operations) can submit affidavits. They can send the affidavits through the post. Later they will be summoned to make their depositions,” Ota told the media.

Ota said he may visit the mishap site if the situation so demanded.
