Process for shifting of Badambadi bus stand in Cuttack begins

Cuttack: The process for shifting of the Badambadi bus stand to Khannagar in Cuttack began today with the district administration conducting a site visit early this morning.

Accompanied by district officials, Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani visited slums and Biswanath Library near Khannagar Ring Road at around 8.30 am to identify 30 acres land for construction of the new bus depot. Stressing on immediate commencement of the work for the new bus stand, the Collector had a discussion on places of relocation of the slums, park and the library. Following the site visit, the Collector will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit the same to state Government soon, sources said.

Among others, Additional Collector Purna Chandra Mishra, Sub-Collector Shubhranshu Mishra, CMC Commissioner Ananya Das were present.

Meanwhile, slum dwellers residing in area have expressed strong discontentment for their relocation while students visiting Biswanath Library have demanded construction of a new library before its eviction. On the other hand, work for renovation of the Puri and Angul bus stand near Pala Mandap here began today. The administration plans to complete the work within a month.
