Projects worth Rs 265 cr approved for Odisha’s Puri

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved five welfare projects worth Rs 265 crore for pilgrim town Puri under the ‘Abhada’ yojana.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the High-Level State Committee chaired by the CM at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

As many as 1250 shops will be constructed at Old Jail area, Jatrika and Municipality Market. This apart, multi-level parking lots having the capacity of accommodating 400 cars will be created on the premises of Old Jail and at Jatrika for resolving the vehicle parking problem in the town.

It was also decided at the meeting that all government offices here including the Puri Collector’s Office will be brought under a single roof for convenience of the public and visitors.

The Municipality Market here will be renovated into a modern market complex while Acharya Harihar Chhak road will be expanded and various citizen-centric services and beautification activities will be undertaken.
