Provision for re-evaluation of exam papers in Odisha’s Utkal University soon

Taking note of complaints over faulty evaluation of answer sheets in the examinations conducted by the Utkal University, the Odisha government has decided to introduce re-evaluation system in the University very soon.

“Since there is provision of re-addition system the University statute, the new changes would be effected at the earliest,” informed principal secretary, Higher Education, Gagan Kumar Dhal at a conference of the principals of 16 autonomous colleges organized by the College Development Council (CDC) of Utkal University here on Wednesday.

The meeting decided to introduce uniform syllabus and examination pattern in all autonomous colleges under the University from the next academic session.

Among other issues, introduction of e-tutorials in the colleges and University, provisions of affiliation and recognition to the colleges, regular coordination between the Higher Education department, the state government and National Assessment as well as Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation to all colleges were discussed at the conference.

Dhal also announced that a decision has been taken to set up a Central Instrumentation Centre in the Utkal University premises where laboratory equipment of all concerned departments would be stored.

Apart from this, the University will have a Foreign Language Laboratory, he added.

Among others, Ajay Patnaik, joint secretary, Higher Education, Ashok Das, University vice chancellor, convener, Mihir Das, Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) representative, Susant Kumar Das, University registrar, Santosh Tripathy, director, CDC and senior lecturers of Utkal University Sadasiv Pradhan, Khiti Bhusan Das and Ranjan Bal were present.
