‘Pruthvi not to contest from Begunia Assembly seat’

Bhubaneswar: Amidst political intrigue over ticket allotment, Congress candidate Pruthvi Ballabh Patnaik added a twist by declining to contest the elections from Begunia Assembly seat.

Pruthvi Patnaik, the son of late Chief Minister Janaki Ballabh Patnaik, said ‘no’ to party ticket citing ‘personal’ reason.

“Pruthvi is unwilling to contest from Begunia Assembly seat in 2019 elections,” informed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik here today.

Congress had fielded him as the party candidate from Begunia Assembly Constituency against Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Rajendra Kumar Sahoo from Khordha and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Risabh Nanda for the upcoming polls 2019.

His denial to the ticket is likely to put Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) in an awkward situation in selection of winnable candidates for Begunia Assembly seat.
