Puri administration restricts cremation of bodies at Swargadwara

Puri: At a time when there has been a spurt in COVID-19 cases, the Puri district administration today decided to restrict cremation of dead bodies of persons from outside the district at Swargadwara in the pilgrim city.

Puri Collector Balwant Singh informed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and due to chances of cross infection, the tough decision has been taken. Until there is improvement in the situation, the restrictions on cremation of dead bodies at Swargadwara will remain in force.

The Collector said the decision has been taken keeping the health interests of the people in mind.
