Puri: As decided, the Banakalagi Niti of deities will be held at the Jagannath Temple in Puri tomorrow (Wednesday).
As per the decision at Puri Srimandir Managing Committee meeting held last week, the Dutta Mohapatra servitors will conduct the Banakalagi ritual of Lord Jagannath on Wednesday.
The special ritual will be conducted after the end of the second Bhoga Mandap ritual, informed the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today.
During the ritual, devotees will be restricted to have darshan of deities from 6 pm to 11 pm tomorrow at Srimandir.
The ritual has not been held since Niladri Bije of deities following 11-day-long Ratha Jatra. The impasse over conducting the Banakalagi ritual continued for over a month with the objection of Dutta Mohapatra Nijog that denied carrying out the ritual on Wednesday defying SJTA's order.
The servitors of the particular Nijog claimed that Banakalagi of deities should be done on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Following a series of discussions with the Dutta Mohapatra Nijog, the servitors finally agreed to conduct the ritual on Wednesday.
