Puri: The Town police here arrested three miscreants last night for allegedly killing another criminal identified as Sanjay Behera (27) alias Para near Gundicha temple under Kumbharapada police limits here yesterday.

The cops also seized a gun, a sword and a bike from the possession of the accused trio.

Worth mentioning, three miscreants had opened fire at Behera leaving him critically injured near Gundicha Temple here yesterday morning. Behera, against whom several criminal cases including murder and extortion were pending, was admitted to Puri district headquarters hospital (DHH) and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital last night.

Though the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, police suspect gang war might be the reason behind the incident.

The three accused are being interrogated and further investigation is on into the incident, police said.
