Puri Jagannath temple inside pics go viral again on social media

Bhubaneswar: Exposing security loopholes at Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town, pictures of the 12th century shrine’s interiors have once again gone viral on social media.

Jony Dutta, a digital creator from West Bengal, allegedly posted the pictures of Jagannath temple interiors on his Instagram account on January 11.

The photos might have been clicked through high resolution cameras, sources said.

The authorities have banned the use of cameras, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets on the premises of Jagannath temple as part of the security protocol at the shrine.

The security personnel deployed at the four gates of the shrine have been asked to check the devotees thoroughly to prevent them from carrying mobile phones and cameras into the temple premises.

Despite this, the photos and videos of the temple interiors, including the sanctum sanctorum, have often gone viral on social media.

“Some people are still carrying mobile phones into the premises of Jagannath temple due to the laxity on the parts of the security personnel deployed at the shrine. The authorities should take the issue seriously and take appropriate action in this regard,” said a local resident.
