Puri: With a series of irregularities being reported during the Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath this year, Mahaprasad worth lakhs was reportedly wasted at Gundicha Temple in Puri yesterday.
The Mahaprasad cooked for around 30,000 devotees and valued at Rs 8 lakh was wasted due to a delay in rituals of deities at the Gundicha Temple, alleged Suara Mahasuara Nijog's secretary Narayan Mahasuara today.
The second Bhogamandap ritual was completed at around 10.10 PM on Friday. As the Adapa Abadha was not ready on time, the devotees expressed displeasure as they were deprived of getting Mahaprasad at Gundicha Temple. the servitor said.
He demanded compensation from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration for the huge loss.
However, another servitor dismissed the allegation.
"In view of influx of devotees, the priority is being given on darshan. Therefore, some sort of delay is occurring in conducting the rituals inside Adapa Mandap at the Gundicha Temple. The Gopalaballav Niti was performed at 12.30 PM today. This ritual could have been conducted 1-2 hours earlier. However, nothing goes to waste here. The delay in rituals is taking place due to lack of coordination among servitors," said Bhabani Dasmohapatra, a servitor.
