Puri Srimandir servitor tests COVID positive

Puri: A servitor of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri tested positive for COVID-19 a day before the Ratha Jatra, official sources said today.

COVID-19 tests of as many as 1143 servitors were conducted yesterday as per the order of the Supreme Court. While one of them tested positive for the virus, the rest tested negative, sources said.

The positive case was shifted to a COVID hospital before the commencement of Ratha Jatra rituals. Contact tracing is being done and the area has been contained, sources added.

Worth mentioning, the Supreme Court yesterday allowed the conduct of Ratha Jatra in Puri with restrictions and also ordered for COVID-19 tests of servitors involved in the festival.
