Puri Srimandir servitor’s aide arrested for sexual assault on minor boy

Puri: An aide of servitor of the Srimandir in Puri was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy inside the shrine.

The accused person has been identified as Sudarsan Mishra, 45, a resident of Harachandi Sahi under Puri Town police limits.

Based on the complaint filed at Singhadwar Police Station, the accused person was booked under sections 377/511 of IPC and 10 of POCSO Act, police informed today.

According to reports, Sudarsan Mishra was regularly sexually harassing the 13 years old boy, who has been learning vedic chants and hymns at the Sanskrit Toll, run by Puja Panda Nijog at the Jagannath Temple.

At around 1 pm on October 4, when the victim was near Niladri Vihar, the servitor’s assistant allegedly dragged the minor boy to an isolated place inside Srimandir and attempted to sexually abused him.

However, the victim managed to escape from the spot and reported the matter at the Singhadwar Police Station.

Following the complaint, the police investigated into the matter and arrested the accused person on October 5 for sexual assault on the minor boy. Later, he was forwarded to a local court.
