Pvt hospitals in 5 cities of Odisha asked to allot beds for COVID cases

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today asked the private hospitals in five municipal corporations to mandatorily designate a share of their total beds for COVID-19 positive patients.

In a letter, Health and Family Welfare department’s Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra directed all private hospitals having bed strength of 30 or above in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur and Rourkela Municipal Corporations areas to designate minimum 50% of their general beds. Also, the private hospitals were asked to keep 80% ICUs ready for treatment of COVID positive patients.

The letter further said if need arises, the entire hospital will be converted into a COVID hospital.
Hospitals will charge the patients at the rate as communicated by the State government, it read.

The above directives will be implemented with immediate effect.
