PwC–FCCI Union Budget 2022-23 Analysis: Implication on Trade and Industry 

Bhubaneswar: FICCI Odisha State Council in association with the Price Waterhouse & Co LLP organized the PwC–FICCI Union Budget Analysis 2022-23 on the virtual platform here yesterday.

Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary, Department of Finance, Government of Odisha hailing the budget as growth oriented said that with an increase in capital investment the government is fully focused on boosting the infrastructure of the nation. He appreciated the focus, long term strategy, infrastructure through Gati Shakti and fiscal consolidation. He also shared concern that the budget has not made any specific announcements on dealing with vexed issues like land acquisition which is the most important issue for the industry.

Parneet Singh Sachdeva, Principal Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Bhubaneswar, Government of India shared his hope and confidence in the 2022-23 budget and highlighted the enormous potential of digital currency. He predicted this sector to contribute one trillion US dollar to India’s dream of becoming a five trillion-dollar economy.

Ranjan Nayak, Chairman, FICCI Odisha State Council and COO, JSW Odisha operation delivered welcome address and mentioned, FICCI is pleased with the set of announcements that were made and we look forward to the implementation of the same by the central government in close coordination with the states. FICCI State Council looks forward to work closely with stakeholders for the all round development of the sector.

Monica Nayyar Patnaik, Immediate Past Chairperson, FICCI Odisha State Council & MD, Sambad Group said that higher allocation in the capital expenditure is a huge booster to the economy. She suggested that the Government should focus more on R&D in the sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, Education, IoT, AI etc.

Saurabh Kedia, CA, Partner, Price Waterhouse & Co LLP gave detailed presentation on analysis on the Direct Taxes. Gopal Agrawal, CA, Partner, Price Waterhouse & Co LLP analyzed the impact on Indirect taxes.
