Bhubaneswar, Feb 7:
After four successful runs, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today decided to conduct Raahgiri every week in Odisha capital.
“Raahgiri has been very successful over the weeks. We have taken a decision to organise the programme here on each Sunday,” said BMC Mayor Anant Narayan Jena speaking to reporters during the fourth instalment of Raahgiri in Bhubaneswar today.
The grandest of all four editions so far, Raahgiri was celebrated by thousands of denizens across all age groups on the Master Canteen – Ram Mandir stretch between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM today. Various food stalls, music concert, bicycle stunts, yoga training programme, wildlife quiz and a flower exhibition added colour to the event.
Even though security arrangements were comparatively less because of Prime Minister’s Odisha tour, the denizens managed themselves efficiently.
”The huge crowd managed themselves efficiently and it is perhaps the effect of Raahgiri in the city. We are now happy that people are going to understand their responsibilities with introduction of Raahgiri in Bhubaneswar,” said BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar.
