Rabana Podi marks end of Durga Puja in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Durga Puja celebrations in Odisha came to an end with Rabana Podi (burning of large effigies of demon king Rabana) across the state today.

Signifying the victory of good over evil, the occasion was marked by attractive display of pyrotechnics. Huge effigies of Rabana, his son Meghanada and brother Kumbhakarna were set afire with colourful fireworks as the crowd cheered.

Besides religious significance, the event is a huge attraction across all sections of visitors because of the attractive light and fire show.

In capital city Bhubaneswar, Rabana Podi was held at five locations– Baramunda, Jharpada, Damana, Naharakanta and Karadakanta. Adequate fire safety measures were taken taken to prevent any mishap during the event.

Popularly known as ‘Ravan Dahan’, the ritual is celebrated across India.
