Rahul assures 22 lakh jobs to Odisha youths if Cong voted to power

Balasore: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi today hit out at the Centre and state government over unemployment issue while addressing a public rally at Remuna here.

The Gandhi scion today promised jobs to unemployed youths of Odisha if Congress is voted to power.

“Has Modi government given jobs to unemployed youths? Has Naveen Patnaik government provided jobs to unemployed youths? Around 22 lakh government jobs are lying vacant. We will provide jobs to the youths within a year, if voted to power. Besides, we will create 10 lakh jobs in panchayat level,” Rahul said.

In addition, employment allowance of Rs 3000 per month will be given to individuals till they get jobs, he added.

“Modi had promised to provide Rs 15 lakh to every poor’s account. Has he done that? We will provide five crore poor families a sum of Rs 6,000 per month for five years. This will be our surgical strike on poverty,” he further said.

While almost all the political parties have promised succor for distressed farmers, Rahul said that the Congress, if comes to power in Odisha, will increase the minimum support price of paddy to Rs 2600 per quintal.

Interestingly, Rahul told the gathering that the Congress will promulgate a law wherein the farm loan defaulters will not be prosecuted.

The AICC chief arrived at the venue few hours late due to technical glitch in the aircraft.
