Raid on Odisha govt official unearths huge unaccounted wealth

Vigilance sleuths on Monday conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of an additional Tahasildar across various places in Odisha on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The anti-corruption wing sleuths of the Cuttack Cell raided the office and houses of Prakash Kumar Roul, Additional Tahasildar posted at Harichandanpur in Keonjhar district.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at Roul’s double storied building at Housing Board Colony, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar, his paternal house at Taaiunkul, Jagatsinghpur, his office at Harichandanpur, Keonjhar and a shop at plot No.169 near NH-5 Patrapada, Bhubaneswar.

During search operation, movable assets, including costly household articles, a Sedan car, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 15, 52,940 deposited in different banks, life insurance certificates and cash to the tune of Rs 1, 41,166 were found.

Besides, immovable assets like one double storied building constructed at Housing Board Colony, Bhubaneswar, one newly constructed building at his native village, Taaiunkul, Jagatsinghpur worth about Rs 37,75,000 were also found.

Total movable and immovable assets detected during house search so far has been calculated to Rs 54, 69,106, an official said.

Till last reports came in, the search operation was on.
