‘Rail Roko’ agitation: ECoR temporarily cancels, diverts these trains in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: An indefinite ‘Rail Roko’ agitation by Kudmi Adivasi Samaj has started today. As it is likely to hit train services in Odisha, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) cancelled a few trains and diverted a few others for the time being, an ECoR press release said.

The agitation was earlier scheduled to start from September 20 by the tribal outfit which was cancelled yesterday as per the directions of Calcutta High Court in Kolkata took a new turn today with agitation taking place at various places in Jharkhand like Manoharpur near Chakradharpur, Gomoh and at other places near Muri, the ECoR press release mentioned.

“In view of the above, there will be an effect on train operations related to the running of trains in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.

A few trains of East Coast Railway will be affected as per the following:

A. Train No-12801 Puri-New Delhi Purusottam Express from Puri on 20.09.2023 will remain cancelled.

B. Train No-18478 Rishikesh-Puri Kalinga Utkal Express from Rishikesh on 19.09.2023 will run on a diverted route via Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda and Rourkela.

C. Train No-12281 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Duronto Express and 22811 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express left Bhubaneswar today, i.e. on 20.09.2023 will run on a diverted route via Adra-Asansol-Jasidih-Patna- Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction,” the official communiqué read.

Notably, some long-distance trains passing through ECoR jurisdiction will also run on diverted routes, the details of which will be shared with the passengers on their mobile phones.
