Railways to sell Odia delicacies; Odisha handloom and handicraft products online

If you are a foodie and frequent train traveler then there is something for you to cheer about. Soon, popular Odia cuisine would be available in trains through e-catering system.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today made a slew of important announcements including selling Odia cuisine and women self-help group products online.

During his visit to the state, Prabhu announced that priority would be given to women self-help groups for selling of their local products through online marketing wing of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for which NABARD would be roped in. Besides, priority would be given to selling of tribal products and Handlooms & Handicrafts in Railways, he added.

This apart, he announced that a full-fledged and beautiful station building would come up at Paralakhemundi.

“Railways would sell handlooms, handicrafts and food products like arisa peetha and badi prepared by women self-help group from Odisha through e-commerce platform,” Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.
