People in the state capital were relieved of intense humidity as a thundershower lashed the city for nearly half-an-hour in the afternoon today.

However, some parts of the city remained without power for over an hour as transformers were damaged by lightning.

However, compared to the coastal districts, temperature remained on the higher side in the western Odisha districts.

While Sonepur at 41.5 degree Celsius was the hottest place today, it was 41 degree each in Sambalpur and Titlagarh, 40.3 in Hirakud and and 40.2 in Bhawanipatna.

The local Met office, in a release here this evening, has predicted rain and thundershower at some places in the state in the next 48 hours and that the temperature would soar up in the next four days- from June 6 – and is likely to cross the 45 degree mark at some places in the state.
